Spring '22 Intern Artist Fellows Pop Up Show An Ode the the Journey was on display from June 9th-11th.
Bereket Adamu, is a multidisciplinary artist from The Southern Peoples Nations of Ethiopia.
Adamu’s work concentrates on the complexity of African voices, symbology, and relationship
structures to give abstracted immersive imagery to everyday life and the roles we may play.
"Throughout African history, there have been atrocities plaguing the continent and the people
born to it. I aim to create striking visuals from stories of displacement, greed, anger, immense terror."
Mikha Dominguez, aka Mikhamik (Caracas, May 12, 1987) is a Queer non binary latinx Venezuelan visual artist, photographer and sculptor who has resided in Minneapolis since 2014. Their early career was spent working in the Venezuelan national television industry where he experienced state censorship under the dictatorship of President Hugo Chávez. In response, Dominguez left Venezuela, and joined the more than six million other Venezuelans who fled the militaristic and authoritarian Chávez regime.
''I have always used art to represent a new reality by putting elements together to give them a new use and meaning. In my work I seek to capture a side of the human being that is not visible, a hidden and vulnerable side that is revealed between colors, textures and strokes."
Sebastian Alfonzo is a Venezuelan American visual artist, documentary filmmaker, and arts organizer. His works oscillates between digital and analog methods of still and moving image making, often blurring the lines between these mediums. Sebastian likes playing with old and broken cameras, and believes that powerful images can be created with simple tools. Community, collaboration, and conversation are all integral to Sebastian's work. He is an organizer for Serpentina Arts, the largest collective of Latinx visual artists in Minnesota. Recently, Sebastian also worked on the PBS Frontline film, "Police on Trial," which explores the state of policing in Minneapolis following the death of George Floyd.
