Pocket Toscani's "Sugar Bear"

Pocket Toscani's hand-made objects are physical manifestations of cultural misfits.They are labored over yet lack polish. Most of my work focuses on parody. I am engaged in saterizing the mainstream, although my appoach is more tenderhearted and affectionate. I use decorative arts and the quotidian to critique the world around us. My concepts are elastic enough that I have room to experiment and take risks.

One of my other concerns in my practise is the physicalness of my objects. I want them to have a presence that engages the viewer vercerally. The form they inhabit is both muscular and yeilding. I try to surprise myself while building, which is difficult because I have insider information.

Materiality plays a significant role in my oeuvre. Through found objects and raw materials I create hybrids of mass produced and fabricated objects. Stylistically, the work comes across as awkward and self-effacing; it is this portal of vulnerability, in which I hope the viewer enters.
