Bio

Jadrian Hein (b.2000) was born in Madison, Wisconsin, and currently lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her work draws upon her upbringing which has been woven by a multitude of locations, homes, and relatives. The subject matter oscillates between personal and impersonal imagery collected to form an ever-evolving definition of the heartland. Jadrian received her BFA in Sculpture at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2023. Her work has been exhibited at the Fresh Eye Gallery and the Vine Arts Center. 

Artist Statement

My work incorporates a mixture of passed-down keepsakes and Wisconsinite trademarks, which are translated into cast replicas, sculptures, and installation work. Raised by habits of collection and constantly surrounded by family memorabilia, I have become inseparable from objects and personal artifacts. Through research and writing, I have come to define a specific American essence within my midwestern upbringing, from which I am both called to and repelled. Therefore, self-portraiture through cast objects has become a definitive consensus. Each replication object performs as a stand-in for whom it represents, intending to embody the range of personalities within my households.
