Founded in 2000 by Xavier Tavera and Dougie Padilla, Grupo Soap del Corazón celebrates Latino artists and culture and the Latinization of Minnesota and the upper Midwest of the USA. To date (December, 2020), Grupo Soap has featured the work of more than 100 artists, local, regional, and international. Grupo Soap started its efforts with an inaugural exhibition entitled “Soap del Corazón.” In that show each artist addressed, visually, the questions: “What is ‘soap of the heart?'", "What cleans the heart?” To this day, Grupo Soap remains true to that mission. And in this especially charged year, this season of political, racial, and cultural unrest and a deadly international pandemic, "Fabulista 2" and its street-punk styled internet/paper "zine" inevitably laser’s in on those issues and what "cleans the heart" of this nation, its people, and what "cleans the heart" of this world.
Special thanks go out to Grupo Soap del Corazon artists, Susan Jacobsen, and John Hock and NE Sculpture I Gallery Factory.
