Tangible Hallucinations

Jessalyn Finch and Selené Huff

Tangible Hallucinations delves into the body experience, biomorphic forms, and the transient nature of understanding human existence. Huff and Finch explore the intersection of physicality and perception, inviting viewers to engage with artworks that challenge conventional notions of biological form and its boundaries. It encourages a deeper reflection on the connections between our physical selves and the intangible experiences that shape our reality.

Jessalyn Finch is a visual artist based in Rochester, MN. She earned a B.S. in Fine Art with a focus on printmaking, drawing and Eastern Philosophy in 2012, but began her professional art career in 2018. As a self proclaimed Body Experience Artist, Finch combines her background in anatomy with a mindful awareness exploration of the human form. Working as a large-scale drawer on 8 feet rolls of paper and a self-taught cardboard sculptor, her work explores themes of body dysmorphia, self image, and self perception.

Selené Huff is a visual artist based in Amiskwaciwâskahikan (Treaty 6 territory), Edmonton, Alberta. Previously an aerospace welder, Huff holds a Journeyperson’s ticket in Welding from NAIT (2016) and an MFA in Sculpture from the University of Alberta (2020). She has been a Sessional Instructor since 2020 and a Studio Arts Technician since 2022 at the University of Alberta. Huff’s creative research transforms discarded materials or remnants from industrial settings into biomorphic sculptures and performances that once again remind us of our human connection to these original items.
