NE Sculpture | Gallery Factory has cancelled or greatly decreased all in-person meetings and events due to COVID-19. The current gallery show, "Reaching the Islands: New Work by John Salhus" will be accessible in person via gallery attendance (6 people at a time in the large gallery space; masks required and provided; hand sanitizer available and all surfaces wiped down regularly). The show can be viewed via photo documentation which will be available at our website and social media platforms. We encourage patrons to view our website, blog, and social media for further updates. Note: In light of safety concerns, we will be practicing social distancing, limiting to six people in the gallery at one time, supplying masks to those who do not have, and spraying down/sanitizing periodically.

ABOUT THE ARTIST: John Salhus was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1970. He attended the Minneapolis College of Art and Design from 1989-92 and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 1992. He moved to Chicago in 1997 where he is an independent artist and has been working in the field of fine art conservation for the past 20 years.
His work is based in the media of painting and drawing and expanding into mixed media sculpture and installation. The themes of raw materials, building, destructive growth, flow, blockage, and creative power course through his work.
